Sama Sama began as a middle school girl’s dream. Lalaine and her family would frequent a Chinese restaurant in her hometown growing up and went to the boba shop next door for dessert. She loved how cool the shop looked at the time, walls filled with polaroid photos of customers, board games on the tables to keep people entertained and music videos playing on the TV screens. She wanted to own a boba shop of her own like that one day.
Fast forward to 2019, after hosting the first Pusong Filipinx the Market event, Lalaine noticed a lack in food and beverage vendors. She was reminded of middle school dream and began brainstorming ideas and menu options with her significant other, Eric and her loved ones back home. When the pandemic hit, small businesses began opening up and Lalaine was inspired to push through with her dream. But it wasn’t until her lola passed away that Lalaine decided to start the business in honor of her memory.
Sama Sama participated in its first pop-up event on Mother’s Day 2021.
